Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a powerful tool that can positively impact how individuals engage and respond to the world around them.  Developing one's EQ can help them be more resilient, improve their personal and professional relationships, increase their productivity, communicate more effectively, and have better outcomes for mental and physical health. 

Many times people hear the term EQ or the phrase Emotional Intelligence and are not sure exactly what it means or how they are supposed to use it.  In these fun and engaging programs, we explore the foundations of EQ, strategies to easily apply the concepts of EQ, and practical tools that participants can use immediately in their personal and professional lives.

The principles behind EQ are so far-reaching because they attempt to help us not only understand human behavior, but also help us recognize our human potential.  Participants leave these sessions feeling inspired about what is possible for themselves through understanding and developing their EQ!

Kari Knutson, MA, known as the “EQ Maven” among her clientele because of her extensive knowledge, wisdom, and ability to help individuals understand the important and practical nature of EQ, offers three main emotional intelligence training programs. These programs are her most popular offerings and help participants identify, cultivate, and apply the five main factors of emotional intelligence in their everyday lives.

Upon completion of Kari's EQ programs, participants will also be able to:

First Level: Developing Emotional Intelligence

The role of emotions in our daily lives is not often discussed; however, how we handle our feelings can have a profound impact on our success and happiness in life.

Emotional intelligence means cultivating the ability to: perceive, evaluate and control emotions, cope with life’s inevitable ups and downs, read and appropriately respond to the social cues of others, delay gratification, and control impulses.

Teaching and modeling emotional awareness are important skills to have.  Adults and children who develop their emotional intelligence have better outcomes for mental and physical health as well as relationships.

In this training program, participants learn the important role of emotional intelligence in our lives and how to cultivate it.

 

Second Level: Emotional Intelligence in Action

"EQ2: STRATEGIES FOR USING EQ IN THE REAL WORLD"

Once participants have seen the EQ 1 talk, they can understand the concepts of self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and relationships skills.  EQ 2 is meant as a follow up to EQ 1 where we dive deeper into what EQ looks like in action.

Having skills to be self-aware and then to process and connect with our emotions are powerful tools.  In addition, developing empathy for others and a sense of altruism helps us have meaningful relationships.  When we put these two ideas together, we understand that using our EQ gives us great power and that connecting with others in authentic ways builds strong relationships.

Understanding and strengthening one’s EQ can help individuals to show up “big”, share their gifts with the world, have meaningful relationships, and be awesome!  This training program will show your employees how to put EQ into action!

 

Third Level: Applied Emotional Intelligence

"EQ3: MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES, MINDSETS, AND EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP"

The next step in understanding the power of emotional intelligence in enhancing our emotional well-being is recognizing which types of intelligences we identify with most and how to use those strengths most effectively in our interactions with others.  

Participants then explore their various mindsets and how they can affect their decision-making process and behavior. Through our mindsets, we either determine our successes or our failures, and becoming more aware of these fixed detrimental attitudes can help us recognize when we are mired in that way of thinking and enable us to reframe those thoughts in the moment and pivot toward a more resourceful and valuable thought process.

In this training program, participants also discover through powerful examples how emotional intelligence can positively impact leadership. They gain an understanding of the qualities they can embody that enhance one’s leadership abilities, even in the most mundane roles one must play in their lives.
